RETINAL VEIN OCCLUSION

A retinal vein occlusion can occur when a vein in the retina becomes blocked. A blocked vein is likely to cause damage to the blood vessels of the retina, sometimes resulting in hemorrhages and leakage of fluid in the area of blocked blood vessels.

-Central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) is when the main vein of the eye becomes blocked.

-Branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO) is when one of the small branches of vessels attached to the main vein becomes blocked.

Risk Factors: High blood pressure, diabetes, glaucoma, age-related blood vessel disease, blood disorders

Treatment options include the use of anti-VEGF medications and/or laser.
